Born from a successful career in electronics, hydraulics and automation, Henry Burden started Burdern Electronics over 40 years ago specialising in the rental, servicing and repair of TV sets.
Based on the founders insistence on know-how and meticulous servicing, his first rate service soon became so popular that he took workshop premises on the present site at 160 County Road.
Joined by his son Randolph Burden in 1974 due to the increasing demand for colour television sets, Burden Electronics entered a new era. And the new partnership soon expanded from its workshop base into a new retail showroom at the front of the building.
Opened on the 20th December 1976, the shop boasted a complete range of TV sets, radios, record players, cassette decks and music centres, as well as smaller equipment including irons, hairdryers and other accessories such as headphones and microphones.
From this date Burdens Electronics has moved from strength to strength and although continuing to offer an unrivalled service for TV's and other entertainment products, now offer a complete selection of white goods including fridges, freezers and washing machines.
Although the service department has expanded to larger premises in Old Town, Swindon, Burden's retail outlet is still situated in their original premises at 160 County Road. But reassuringly, the one thing that hasn't changed over the years is Burdens dedication to prompt and efficient attention to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
